Junior Educator Training
June 15, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
The Smithtown Historical Society Junior Educator Program provides a unique opportunity for local students to develop a wide range of skills while having fun and learning about and sharing in the history of Smithtown and the community at large. Overall, Junior Educators are asked to help with a variety of events and activities throughout the year such as our Heritage Country Christmas, Super Saturdays in December, and break programs in February and April, along with spring events, Summer Camp and our Heritage Fall Festival in September. They may also be asked to come in and assist with preparations for these events. All time spent volunteering is eligible for Community Service hours.
You must be at least 13 years old or have graduated from 8th grade to qualify for the Junior Educator Program. You do not need to be a Smithtown resident, but you must have reliable transportation to and from the grounds for your training and your volunteer days.
Accepted volunteers will need to complete a training session to learn about the Smithtown Historical Society, our buildings and grounds, and the expectations for their time as a volunteer with SHS.
Training will start at the Brush Barn, and take you all around the grounds of the SHS. Call for more info and to receive an application. Application must be received by June 10th.
