Holiday Tree Contest: 

Trees on display during our Holiday Trail of Lights (Dec. 20-22)

The Smithtown Historical Society (SHS) is hosting a Holiday Trail of Lights event (on Dec. 20-22 from 5:30-8:30 PM) in which we will be holding a Holiday Tree contest.

Benefit to Participate:

• Fun and engaging opportunity for youth (or those young-at-heart) to get involved in their local community
• Great exposure for your business, organization, or school while supporting the Smithtown Historical Society, a gem in your local community
• Entry into the list of nominees for our 2025 Heritage Ball honoree

What is provided by SHS?

The SHS will provide you with a designated spot along our trail to create a one-of-a-kind Holiday tree. Electric will be provided.

What is a participating organization responsible for?

• A participating organization must supply signage, a tree (artificial or real; max size 7 feet), and all decorations, including lights. *Please note that trees must be non-partisan/non-political/non-offensive. Religious or any secular themes are allowed.
• It is responsible for transporting and finishing the tree.

Decoration Budget: Maximum $1500

 Optional Decoration Service: $1500 (if you want SHS to handle the decoration)

Contest Prizes:

• 1^st Place Winner will be entered into nomination to be a SHS 2025 Heritage Ball Honoree.
• 2^nd Place Winner receives $250

Participation Fee: $50

• Payment should be made via check made out to the Smithtown Historical Society.
• Checks should be mailed to 239 East Main Street, Smithtown, NY 11787.

Deadline to Submit Application: November 30^th

Deadline to Decorate: December 18th
