2016 Heritage Ball Honorees
A Community Partnership in History
Each October the Smithtown Historical Society hosts a gala to honor distinguished individuals for their significant and ongoing contributions to the Smithtown community. At Smithtown Historical Society’s annual meeting at the close of January, this year’s Heritage Ball honorees were announced. This year the organization has chosen to once again acknowledge members from the six major hamlets of Smithtown Township. The 2016 Heritage Ball Partnership in History award recipients are Bob Creighton of Kings Park, Al Hornberger of Nesconset, Mark Mancini of Smithtown, Paul E. Borowski of Hauppauge, James Dowling St. James, and Jeff Gumin of Commack. “It is our privilege to honor to each of these recipients who have demonstrated a passion in sharing our mission through the civic and volunteer work they do for our community.” remarked Smithtown Historical Society Executive Director Marianne Howard. “Their ongoing commitment and generosity to our community is inspiring. I hope the entire Township will join the Smithtown Historical Society in celebrating their achievements.” The Heritage Ball will take place on Thursday, October 20th at the Watermill in Smithtown. There will be a cocktail hour beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed at 7:30 p.m. by an awards ceremony, dinner & dancing, and raffles. Tickets are priced at $125 per person. This event will benefit the Smithtown Historical Society in its mission of commitment to the preservation, restoration, and interpretation of Smithtown’s rich heritage for the education and enjoyment of current and future generations.
