THE SMITHTOWN HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Smithtown has a unique heritage – one that’s worth upholding and sustaining. An important part of that heritage is the Smithtown Historical Society; it is our mission to not only interpret Smithtown’s history, but also to preserve it.

Funded by the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation, we are excited to announce the launch of an app that allows visitors to take a walking tour of the Smithtown Historical Society’s property, narrated by Smithtown Historian Bradley L. Harris. We hope to educate both visitors and residents about the unique history and culture of our town.

We are also pleased to announce the Digital Tapestry app, an augmented reality app, also funded by the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation. You will “meet” important historical figures at key sites in Smithtown’s historic district (including on our 22-acre site). Follow the prompts to allow these figures to teach you about key events from Smithtown’s vibrant past.
